Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972 is a federal law that prohibits听discrimination based on the sex or gender of students and employees at educational institutions that receive federal financial assistance. Title IX states, 鈥淣o person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.鈥� ()."
Title IX is best known for ensuring gender equity in collegiate athletics, but it also broadly prohibits discrimination on the basis of gender or sex in any education program or activity. Sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking also fall under the purview of Title IX. The 50th anniversary of the passage of Title IX is on June 23, 2022.

Title IX Annual Reports as required by the CSU Chancellor's Office
In response to feedback from Cozen O鈥機onnor following their assessment听听of the CSU鈥檚 Title IX and Discrimination, Harassment and Retaliation (DHR) programs and from the California State Auditor following their audit of the CSU鈥檚 system to assess the CSU鈥檚 handling of sexual harassment complaints against employees at the Office of the Chancellor (Chancellor鈥檚 Office), California State University, Fresno, San Jos茅 State University, and Sonoma State University听the CSU Chancellor鈥檚 Office is refining the categories of Title IX data it gathers to ensure the accuracy of campus Title IX Annual Reports and to facilitate more precise analysis and identification of patterns and trends. While the CO works to update the data queries, CSU campuses will defer issuing Title IX Annual Reports until the Chancellor鈥檚 Office finalizes new guidance for data collection and reporting.
During this time, all CSU campuses will continue to issue the Annual Security Report, accessible for 糖心原创出品听补迟 /equity/title-ix/, in accordance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (the Clery Act).听 This report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning Clery Act defined听crimes that were reported to have occurred on campus, in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the CSU, and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. This report听includes, but is not limited to, reported incidents of sexual assault (including rape, fondling, incest, and statutory rape), domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking.听听Please note that the data in the Annual Security Report differs from the data that has historically been reported in a campus鈥檚 Title IX Annual Report due to the specific definitional and geographical parameters required for Clery statistics."
